District 201N1
DG John Davis

New South Wales, Australia

Lion John was born in Mudgee, NSW in 1949. He completed his primary and secondary education as a border at Barker College, Hornsby. Upon completion of his education John returned to the family farm, at Bylong, where he commenced his farming career. In 1973 John purchased his own property in the Currabubula district where he mainly focused on crop production before specialising in cattle production and fodder conservation. In 1995 John met Rosalie and they were married in 1997.

Lions Lady Rosalie was born and raised in Victoria. Rosalie has been involved in voluntary organisations since her teens. Both John and Rosalie enjoyed the challenges and work involved in rural production and management. They worked as a team and this team-work ensured their rural business thrived. In 2003 John and Rosalie decided on a lifestyle change that meant selling the farming property and moving to Tamworth to live. This enabled them to travel and to spend more time with their increasing family.

John has been involved in community service since he joined the Rural Youth Association in 1968. He joined the Werris Creek branch of the United Farmers Association in 1975. In 1982 John joined the Werris Creek Rotary club. In 1996 the club was disbanded due to lack of numbers. John has fond memories of this vibrant club. There was a dinner celebrating the years of Rotary service with guests including the Werris Creek Lions club. They invited John to join them and so began John’s journey with the Lions family when he was inducted in September 1996. John transferred to the Lions Club of Tamworth when he moved into Tamworth in 2003. In 2011 John came onto 201N1 Cabinet.

Outside Lions, John joined the Australian Red Cross in 1999 with Life membership and has been actively involved at both branch and state level. He is in his 6th year as a Director on the NSW Divisional Advisory Board. His interests and hobbies include, watching motor racing sports, travelling with Rosalie and family events and functions.

Lions Motto “We Serve” defines what inspires Lions everywhere to work in support of local communities. This work continues to bring benefits to the community and also brings its own rewards to those who serve. John and Rosalie enjoy being part of this great organisation that works to make a real and lasting impact on people’s lives and communities.
